Exolaunch Introduces New Award-Winning Satellite Separation System, 'Quadro'

Exolaunch’s newest hardware will address the growing market segment in four-point satellite separation systems.

Berlin, Germany — 19 February 2024Exolaunch, the global leader in launch mission management, integration, and satellite deployment services, announced today the latest addition to its proven satellite separation system product line. In response to the increasing popularity of the four-point architecture among small satellite manufacturers, Exolaunch will expand its separation system product line with the introduction of Quadro, an award-winning advanced four-point system, leveraging proven technology to deliver market-leading low-shock and low tip-off rate separations.

To cater to diverse customer requirements, the Quadro will be available in three distinct and versatile configurations: Quadro Arrow, Quadro 4032, and Quadro 2424 that can be easily adapted to different satellite buses. Specifically engineered for existing satellite platforms up to 200 kilograms, the Quadro Arrow has undergone rigorous development, testing, and qualification to deploy satellites on several upcoming rideshare missions, expected to launch later this year. The Quadro 4032, designed with scalability in mind, accommodates satellites with a mass up to 500 kilograms on the most widely-used launch vehicles and will provide the largest capacity separation system that can fly on a rideshare mission, targeted to launch in early 2025. For satellites with a mass of approximately 300 kilograms and adhering to commonly-used size requirements, the Quadro 2424 will serve as the optimal choice for most customers and is set to be released in late 2025.

A notable feature of the Quadro range is the mechanically-synchronized pusher-arm system, introducing unprecedented precision in satellite deployment. With an intuitive design and being an ITAR-free (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) system, its global compatibility and user-friendly nature position it as the preferred choice for space missions worldwide.

At the 2023 European Space Forum, Exolaunch was selected as the winner for the ‘Innovation in Space’ award amongst hundreds of other competitive submissions for innovative technologies in the global commercial space industry. Several undisclosed satellite manufacturers have placed early orders for Quadro, with one of the first customers purchasing several dozens of units so as to use the Quadro for its launch program. The inaugural flight, slated for launch later this year, symbolizes a landmark moment in the realm of accessible and cost-effective space solutions.

Reflecting on this milestone, Connor Pollock, mission director at Exolaunch, remarked, “Our new Quadro stands as a testament to Exolaunch’s innovative spirit, and we extend our sincere gratitude to our customers for placing their trust in Exolaunch and our hardware. With its scalable architecture, our aim is to significantly reduce costs for constellation providers, representing a substantial leap forward in the evolution of satellite deployment technologies. Exolaunch is on course to broaden the spectrum of advanced separation systems, ensuring coverage for diverse launch and deployment needs on a global scale. We eagerly anticipate Quadro becoming the preferred deployment solution for both our existing customers and new market entrants alike.”
