Third mission with Rocket Lab

Mission overview

On its 22nd mission, Exolaunch successfully deployed the SFL-built Telesat’s LEO3 satellite launched aboard Rocket Lab's reusable Electron launch vehicle. The satellite flew on July 18, 2023 at 01:27 UTC to a 1000 km-high sun-synchronous orbit (SSO) from Launch Complex 1, Pad B on New Zealand’s Mahia Peninsula. The mission, called “Baby Come Back”, was Rocket Lab's 39th Electron launch.

LEO3 is the latest step in the Telesat Lightspeed™ Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network, the first and only LEO network optimized to meet the rigorous requirements of telecom, government, maritime and aeronautical customers. LEO3 was built by SFL based on its popular DEFIANT microsatellite platform to provide continuity for customer and ecosystem vendor testing campaigns following the decommissioning of Telesat’s Phase 1 LEO satellite.
